ಭದ್ರಾವತಿ ನಗರಸಭೆಯು, 1920 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ನಗರವು ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಬಿ.ಹೆಚ್ ರಸ್ತೆಯ ಆಸು ಪಾಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲಸಿದೆ. ಹಾಗೂ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ನಗರದಿಂದ 18.00 ಕಿ.ಮೀ ಗಳ ಅಂತರದಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಭದ್ರಾವತಿಯು ಎರಡು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಾರ್ಖಾನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ದವಾಗಿದೆ. "ವಿ.ಐ.ಎಸ್.ಎಲ" ಮತ್ತು "ಎಂ.ಪಿ.ಎಂ". ಭದ್ರಾವತಿಯ "ಶ್ರೀ ಲ್ಕ್ಮೀನರಸಿಂಹ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ದೇವಸ್ತಾನವು" ಹೈಸಳರ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು. ನಗರದ ಹೃದಯಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲಸಿದೆ. ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಡೆಗಳಿಂದ ಈ ದೇವಸ್ತಾನವನ್ನು ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ಜನ ಆಗಮಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ನಗರದಿಂದ ಕೇವಲ 20.00 ಕಿ ಮೀ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿ.ಆರ್.ಪಿ ಡ್ಯಾಮ್ ಇದೆ. 194.00 ಅಡಿ ಎತ್ತರದ ಡ್ಯಾಮ್ ನ್ನು ಭದ್ರಾನಧಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಲಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ನಗರದ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯು 1,60,662 ಆಗಿದ್ದು 35 ವಾರ್ಡ್ ಗಳಿವೆ.
The City Municipal Council (CMC) Bhadravathi was constituted in 1920. It is situated in Shimoga district along B H Road around 18 Kms from shimoga. Bhadravathi is known for the two big industries "VISL" and "MPM". The Laxmi Narasimha swami temple, built by Hoysalas in the heart of the city attracts piligrims from all over the state. The B.R.P Dam just 20 Kms away from Bhadravathi. 194 ft high dam is constructed accross river Bhadra. It has a population of 1,60,662 as per census 2001. This CMC has 35 wards and equal number of councilors and 5 Nominated Councilors.Bhadravathi CMC stretches to an area of 67.08 SqKms
